Welcome to Hampshire Autistic Society
I would like to welcome you to our website which has been developed to enable clear information about our services to be accessible to everybody connected to autism and the Society. Hampshire Autistic Society is constantly looking at ways that it can both influence and develop services that reflect the needs and wishes of people with autism and those connected to them.
The Society, since its formation in the mid-1960’s, has worked hard to understand the needs of people with autism and has developed a wide range of services. Some of these services, whilst constantly being developed, are captured within the video on this home page. I hope that this illustration of our services and the wider website is helpful to you. We continue to work to understand the impact of an individual’s autism, and how we can shape services to take account of their need’s, this can only be achieved through close collaboration with people we support, parents and carers and the statutory agencies who have planning and commissioning responsibilities.

A Parents Comments

Let me fill you in on the background leading up to this day. William, after much heart-searching and researching started his first day at The Lodge in January 1998 when he was only six and a half years old. It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life and hopefully nothing will again challenge my tenacity, dedication and courage to “do the right thing by William” and not bow down to the weight of my own emotions pulling me the opposite way to keep him close and safe in the confines of his bedroom for the rest of his life.
