The Bungalow is based on the Anglesey Lodge grounds in Alverstoke in Gosport. There are five service users, four men and a female, living at the Bungalow.
The Bungalow is next to the beach and the service users enjoy walks along the sea. The Bungalow is also near supermarkets, pubs, cafes and local shops. We hold a good relationship within the community.
The Bungalow is managed by a Registered Manager and a Deputy Manager. There is a staff team of 20 Support Workers with all ranges of experience. The Bungalow is registered with the Care Standards Commission and currently holds a two star rating (good). The staff team work well together and work hard promoting choice and independence for the service users. All staff are working towards their NVQ's or have completed. There are also various other training course the staff complete such as Makaton, Autism, medication, health and safety etc.
Four of the service users choose to go to the day service during the week whilst another does various activities in the community, swimming and picnics are favourites. During the weekends the service users choose various activities, these range from going to the theatre to going to theme parks. The service users can also go on holiday if the choose.
The Bungalow staff support the service users to maintain relationships with their families and friends and we hold a Christmas party every year for all to come and join us. Friends and family are also welcome to visit and the staff also support the service users to visit friends and family in their homes.
The Bungalow staff and service users have been working hard to improve communication
systems at the Bungalow, more choices for the service users and support to develop
independence skills. Person Centred Planning and working with Person Centred
Approaches is a priority in The Bungalow.
