The Holt was opened in 1988 and provides 52 week residential accommodation to 6 adults, male or female, on the autistic spectrum.
The Holt is situated within the picturesque village of Alverstoke in Gosport and is very much part of the local community. It is within easy walking distance of local amenities as well as the beach at Stokes Bay.
The Holt is managed by an experienced Registered Manager and a Deputy who lead both the contracted and regular Supply staff team. The Holt, as with all Hampshire Autistic Society services, is registered with the Care Standards Commission. Hampshire Autistic Society recognises that for the majority of our Service Users the Support Workers and carers are the most important people in their lives and therefore prioritises training and supervising the staff to enable them to support our Service Users to achieve their fullest potential in life.
The Holt Service Users are able to access the Day Services at Anglesey Lodge from Monday to Friday where full individual schedules of activities are devised for each person. Day Service works closely alongside each of the Locality's residential homes and provides a wide range of educational and occupational opportunities such as creative cookery, art, pottery, computer skills and woodwork. Day Services is able to access local facilities such as colleges, libraries and local leisure centres.
The emphasis at The Holt is to encourage service users to actively participate in all aspects of the running of their home. Service users living at The Holt are also able to enjoy and follow their own chosen interests whilst being encouraged to diversify and try new experiences. The Hampshire Autistic Society has embraced the principles and practices of Person Centred Planning within all its services including The Holt, where enabling choice and individuality are of paramount importance. Service users living at The Holt are able to enjoy annual holidays of their own choice and trips to places of interest as well as other activities such as swimming, cinema, pub lunches, and walks along the local beach or wooded areas amongst many other places to enjoy.
