Post-16 Education Video

The Community Resource Centre is located close to Southampton City Centre within easy access to the local community. The building is well equipped, well maintained and in excellent decorative order. This resource opened in February 2006 has developed a highly skilled team utilising technological teaching and learning facilities effectively for the benefit of the students.

The primary aim of the site is to prepare young people with autism and complex learning needs with lifelong learning skills. Specialist provisions within the Centre include an electronic white board, ICT Suite, large training kitchen and extensive teaching areas. The curriculum within the Community Resource Centre has been designed to provide opportunities to consolidate daytime learning and help students develop their independence. The site has been designed to fully meet the educational daytime needs of 4-5 students (16-19) and an additional resource facility for our residential education students to access on a planned basis.

Access to the community is an integral part of the curriculum and can be achieved using public transport, the minibus or the people carrier. Offsite trips by foot developing traffic awareness skills are frequent.

The site offers an excellent room for larger training events and prize giving ceremonies.
