Harcourt Road, which opened in late October 2007, is located in Bitterne Park and provides support to students, aged under 16, for up to 52 weeks.
The surrounding area has a thriving local community and has a variety of local amenities including local parks and shops. It is also situated within walking distance of Hope Lodge School where the students attend school Monday to Friday during term time.
During holidays and at weekends, students participate in a variety of activities.
Each student at Harcourt has an individualised schedule where group and individual activities are undertaken, alongside leisure and living skills. Activities include swimming, picnics, parks and long walks in the New Forest. There are also many attractions close by which provide day trips such as Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park and Monkey World.
Harcourt Road is a four-bedroomed bungalow set in its own grounds, and is located in a tucked away position at the end of a long driveway. It has a large lounge, conservatory and a spacious garden.
Our aim is to enhance the students' independence and social skills by using the local amenities available to us through the support of a staff team, experienced and trained in autism and communication. Through the Waking Day Curriculum, students are able to access new places, learn new skills and have the opportunity to practice them within a safe and supportive environment. |
