SERVICES:
Outreach offer a wide range of services to support
individuals, families and professionals and to raise
autism awareness:
Advice
The Outreach officers are available by telephone, e-mail
or by appointment to give advice and support to individuals,
families and professionals and are happy to arrange
a home visit if deemed appropriate.
Outreach Library
Available within the Outreach Department is
a well stocked library with specialist books on all
aspects of autism
Support Groups
The activities of these Groups vary with some holding
regular meetings while others offer a contact
and information point.
Parenting Courses
Small group parent courses can be run for parents of children
on or suspected to be on the autistic spectrum. This
is to give parents information about autism and positive
strategies which may help with the management of their
children.
Coffee Mornings
The Outreach Officer holds regular coffee mornings giving families and individuals the opportunity to meet and chat and form new friendships.
Presentations
Members of the Outreach Team are available to give informal talks or presentations on aspects of autism to groups and professionals.
PROJECTS: The Outreach Department is also involved in various projects throughout Hampshire:
Alert Card
In
partnership with Hampshire Constabulary and the Hampshire Police Authority, Hampshire
Autistic Society has introduced an Autism Alert Card to highlight the condition
when in contact with the police or emergency services. Hampshire Autistic Society
is supporting people with autism to live more independent lives and to raise
awareness in the communities.

On the 11th May 2010 Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service
launched their Autism Alert Initiative and the Alert Car Sticker.
THE STICKER is to be placed with information facing inwards, blank side outwards, on the passenger side of the windscreen above the tax disc. In the event of a Road Traffic Accident, Emergency Services would be able to identify that a person with Autism may be on board.
QE2 Activity Centre
 This project is offering holidays for individuals and families with autism in the Hampshire area. Hampshire Autistic Society is supporting families to spend quality leisure time together.

Wordsworth House
The Outreach Officers are supporting individuals and families during the diagnostic process at Wordsworth House, a diagnostic unit for under 5's .Hampshire Autistic Society is supporting and facilitating family continuity of care during and after diagnosis.
Pathway Group
This project is within the Criminal Justice System (CJS) and has a member from all Departments within the CJS meeting to discuss and develop policies, procedures and training to enable people with autism passing through the CJS the support they require. Hampshire Autistic Society is supporting and facilitating individuals, families and professionals in the CJS.
PROJECTS FOR 2009-2010
Community Enforcement
We will be working with various civil and community enforcement groups within local councils to raise awareness and promote the Alert Card.
