Hope Lodge School has an appointed Family Services person whose role is to liaise with the families and extended families of all students in the school. This position covers a wide range of support activities which include verbal and written communication on a needs lead basis, home visits and regular coffee mornings. The Family Services person also hosts Parent Visitors sessions to the school, helps with transition planning for students both entering school and those moving on. Support is offered to families at the annual review of their child, and at young people's LAC reviews.
In conjunction with the Behaviour Support Co-ordinator and other staff, guidance and advice are offered to families to enable them to employ strategies at home which have been successful in school. There is also the opportunity for young people to be accompanied to health appointments, hair cuts and shopping trips.
The Family Services mobile phone number is available for
families to use outside of school hours. Support is offered
to families of young children through an autism awareness
group for parents of children on the autistic spectrum
or a probably diagnosis of this. |
