Community Resource Centre - College Services
The Post 16 College Campus - comprising Community Resource Centre, Bassett House and Armstrong House - is located close to Southampton City Centre and
has easy access to services and places of interest within the local community. The buildings are well equipped,
well maintained and in excellent decorative order. This resource, has developed a highly skilled team using technological teaching
and learning facilities effectively, for the benefit of the students. There are large areas of gardens used for sensory time, horticulture, technology and choice time away from the usual educational routines.
The primary aim is to prepare young people with autism and complex learning needs with lifelong learning and functional skills. The Campus is visited weekly by the Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Music Teacher and Behaviour Support offering diversified methods of teaching that enable all to access differentiated learning methods. The teaching centre includes an electronic white board, ICT Suite, larege training kitchen and individualised teaching areas.
The curriculum at the CRC is largely based around Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and PSHE; as functional skills embedded in a Total Learning Environment that runs throughout the day within the 24-hour curriculum. At Post 16 our curriculum has been specifically developed to ensure that education is delivered to the highest standards to maximise individual potential and to provide individual students with strategies to successfully transition into adult life.
Strong links have been forged with local sector colleges, work experience placements and training providers to promote inclusion. Discrete adult support is offered to help develop self-help and independence skills, with the opportunity for students (if relevant to ability and aspiratons) to gain qualifications to support future employment.

Access to the community is an integral part of the curriculum and can be achieved using public transport, minibus or people carrier. Offsite trips by foot developing traffic awareness skills are frequent, as are trips to Southampton Common which is a two minute walk from the site.
