Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Professional Colleagues,
I am pleased to write these few words of welcome on behalf of the staff and students of Hope Lodge School.
Starting at a new school is always a daunting experience but you can rest assured that we will do everything we can to make the transition as stress free as possible for all concerned.
Our prospectus has been designed to guide you through information pertaining to the school, and give you information on various aspects of school life including the staff, the students and the curriculum we offer. I do hope that you find it informative and it gives you something of a ‘flavour’ of the school and its underpinning aims and philosophy.
Hope Lodge School is committed to the belief that since every young person with an autism spectrum condition presents a unique pattern of behaviour and learning, it is essential to view each young person as an individual and to develop positive, structured programmes that address those needs. The school seeks to provide for each young person’s educational, physical, moral and emotional needs through programmes designed by a multi-disciplinary team working on strength areas to enable each child to reach their full potential.
Hope Lodge School believes that each pupil’s unique abilities need to be enhanced and enriched by carefully planned development and behavioural approaches that permeate the young persons’ day at School, Community Resource Centre, Aspin House, The Lodge, Whitworth Crescent, Bassett House and Armstrong House. Each child is helped to progress academically and socially by all staff at every opportunity.
Obviously, no document will convey everything you might want to know so do feel free to ask questions, make comments and seek further information. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and these can be arranged via our Family Liaison Officer, Barbara Saunders.
I look forward to meeting with you.
Mrs Jo West
Acting Headteacher
