The Lodge provides a residential service, on a weekly boarding basis, for up to 5 students aged 16-19.
The house offers a homely environment where each young person's bedroom is decorated to a high standard and the students are encouraged to choose their decor. There is a kitchen that is equipped to enable the students to have 1:1 cooking sessions. There is a lounge that is decorated to encourage a calm and relaxing atmosphere, where students are encouraged to mix socially with the appropriate support. Attached to the house is a resource room that can be accessed throughout the day and in the evening for recreational activities.
The house is situated in the heart of a busy local community where transport links are easily accessible within walking distance, and the high street is just around the corner. This enables the students to develop their independence and social skills with the appropriate support in a safe and familiar environment.
As part of the waking day curriculum, the students access the Community Resource Centre through the day to support their learning. Resources at The Lodge have been designed to provide opportunities for students to consolidate daytime learning and support young people to develop their independence.
We also use a Key Worker system where each young person is allocated a member of staff, responsible for their well being and will advocate for them through the course of their stay with us.
The Lodge has access to its own car which is used to take students on individual and group activities such as picnics, trips to the youth club, and walks in the New Forest, or for young people who find using local transport difficult.

We are committed to providing a happy, caring, safe and secure environment for the young people together with individual structured programmes that support and develop social and life skills. We ensure inclusion to the wider community at every given opportunity. All programmes are tailored to each individual's wishes and needs.
All staff receive comprehensive training, tailored to the needs of the students. Each student is assessed on an individual basis and the support organised around their needs. The philosophy of The Lodge is to promote independence. This is established through encouraging each individual to reach their full potential in all areas of self development.
Communication with parents is an important element of our work. This is carried out at least weekly through telephone contact and home letters which report on all aspects of the young persons development. We believe this is a two way process to building positive relations with all Parents.
Transition
McDonalds treat
Hampshire Autistic Society has developed a thorough transition programme used with all students either entering or moving on from our service. All transitions are student centred and needs led to ensure the young person remains as comfortable as possible. The plan is created through close communication with parents and other relevant agencies involved in the young person's life. Initial assessment is carried out by experienced practitioners and is supported by the Family Liaison Officer who maintains family links and provides support as required. |
